The Disneyland annual passports began in 1984 for Magic Kingdom Club members, and in 1985 for the general public. The passes, in addition to introducing different variations, rose in price from $65 in 1984 to $389 for the Premium pass in 2009 - over $300 in 25 years. Now, after almost an annual raise, Disneyland has raised the cost even more significantly. Since 2009, the cost of the Premium (or, in this case, Signature Plus) has been raised $660; that's over approximately $100 a year compared to about $13 before 2009. It's no surprise that this current raise has caused a bit of uproar among Disneyland Annual Passholders and other fans who were looking forward to purchasing one.
Disneyland Rate Updates:
> Deluxe Pass
now $599 (or $41.67 per month)> SoCal Select Pass
now $329 (or $19.17 per month)
The Southern California Pass is still unavailable, except for renewal, and the Premium Pass has been discontinued in favor of two new passes: the Signature and the Signature Plus:
With the price raise and the Disneyland pass reorganization, Disney also introduced new annual passes for Walt Disney World. Disney replaced the Seasonal, Standard, and Premium passes with Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Platinum Plus:
- Silver: $389
- Gold: $549
- Platinum: $749
- Platinum Plus: $829
Although Walt Disney World has yet to reach a pass over $1000, the day will inevitably come; but for now, frequent Disney World visitors can get Platinum annual passes at $829, with new PhotoPass benefits.
